Gus's Teaching Philosophy Teaching the game of golf is not just about showing someone how to hit a golf ball long and straight; it has many other facets. My main goal as an instructor is to help the student with their main concerns at that time whether they are a true beginner or a scratch handicap player looking for their first win. The interview process is very important in determining how to approach the lesson plan. In my 16 years of teaching, coaching, and 36 years of competitive play, I feel very confident I can help you become a better player. With passion, commitment, and an open mind to change, we can make progress toward making you a better player! The Pinewild Golf Academy is led by Gus Ulrich, PGA, who is recognized as one of the most respected players and teachers in the Carolinas PGA Section. In addition to a number of personal achievements( including five-time Senior Player of the Year for the Carolinas PGA), Gus is currently the Men’s Golf Coach at Sandhills Community College, boasting five NJCAA D3 National Championships (2014, 2021, 2022,2023, and 2024). Gus currently works with golfers of all abilities, from beginners to Tor players.
